When a person is in a Residential Aged Care Facility, there are other barriers to receiving adequate nutrition and hydration including a lack of staffing at meal times, unappetizing food, issues surrounding the texture of foods and fluids, lack of confidence and lack of adequate aids and equipment to encourage independence. Dietitians encourage the use of assistive devices to promote independence at meal times in aged Care.
