National Meals on Wheels Day

National Meals on Wheels Day

National Meals on Wheels Day is celebrate on the last Wednesday in August each year. It is an opportunity to highlight to the Australian people the significant contribution that is made to the community by over 700 Meals on Wheels services and some 80, 000 volunteers across Australia.

Meals on Wheels enables frail older people and younger people with disabilities and their carers to remain in their own homes and enjoy a level of independence and style of living to suit their individual needs.

While aged care or other support may be needed later, Meals on Wheels provides a way for people to stay in the comfort of a familiar home environment for as long as possible.

Leading Nutrition dietitians have been involved in providing thorough menu reviews to Meals on Wheels around Australia. If you would like to know whether the meals you are providing are nutritious and meeting criteria, please contact us on 1300 712 722 (national number).
